UP! Debuts And Industry Press Takes Notice

The UP! team has been making the rounds, talking to industry magazines to tell them about the new technology designed to connect manufacturers with machine service providers – when and where they need it. This simple app for your mobile device is free, fast and the first of its kind. Check out the blog article from Modern Machine Shop, “Like Uber for Machine Tool Service?”.

Editor-in-Chief Peter Zelinski notes that 1.5 percent of machine tools are out of use at any given moment due to unplanned downtime. The sheer volume of service requests can often leave machine shops waiting for service appointments and losing money while their line is down. The UP! app offers the opportunity to connect shops to service providers they might not have been aware of.

“We are going to established providers and making them visible to machine shops.” Cutting Tool Engineering had a great interview, and Managing Editor Greg Bartlett wrote this piece about the technology: “Machine repair is looking UP.”

“We look at ourselves as the crusaders against downtime. In production manufacturing, downtime is very expensive, and it’s not just the cost of the machine and labor. It is the opportunity cost, consequential damages and other, less evident costs.”
